GGRS Holiday Party and Annual Business Meeting

Dan Alvero's Clubhouse

January 6, 2007

Nobody thought to take a count, but there was excellent attendance at the 2007 Holiday Party and Annual Business Meeting. Thanks to Dan Alvero for making the clubhouse at his subdivision available for our meeting. It was a wonderful location for a winter meeting. Thanks to Jim Mathews for providing door prizes. And thanks to Don Nute for the photos.

During the business meeting, the group voted to establish a six-member Board of Directors. An election will be held by the end of March. There was also a discussion of relying more on the new Web site to distribute information among club members and to rely less on a printed Newsletter. The consensus was to proceed along these lines, but to be sure that we continued to mail critical information to members who do not have internet access.

As usual, the high point of the party was the gift exchange. There were lots of great gifts including several structures made by our members. These member-made structures were the ones that seemed most likely to be "stolen". Here are some pictures from the party.

There were some intense conversations between Dan Alvero and Frances Tidd...

between Ted Yarbrough and Richard Garlinghouse...

...and between Hub Evans and Barry Reade...

Tom Conrad didn't have this saloon before it was stolen.

Charlie Tidd even built an interior into the saloon.

And Joe Fotschky was just the first owner of this lawnmower repair shop built by Don Nute.

Bright red handles! Maybe Jane Nute won't lose these nice gardening tools!

Hang on, RJ Deberg! Whoops! It's gone!

David Bennett, who built the bridge RJ owned for a few minutes, walked away with one of two
passenger waiting stations built by Joe Fotschky.

Says Chris Wolcott, "They're street lights, of course!"

Ann Deberg holds her produce stand built by Don Nute.
