GGRS Meeting

June 6, 2008, Club Meeting

Ted and Deborah Yarbrough, Chatsworth, Georgia

Bob and Cindy Shiflett, Chatsworth, Georgia

Randy Blackstock, Resaca, Georgia

Members braved temperatures in the 90s to visit three layouts in Chatworth and Resaca. Our thanks to Ted and Deborah, Bob and Cindy, and Randy for opening their layouts and organizing this mini-tour, and to Ted and Deborah for hosting the luncheon. Photos of the Shiflett layout are by Joe Fotschky; photos of the Yarbrough and Blackstock layouts are by Don Nute.

Here is the first of four loops that make up the Yarbrough's garden railroad. This is in the entry way to the back yard.

The second loop is to the left as you enter the back yard. It features a very attractive pond and fountain.

The latest loop is elevated over the third loop. Here we see the two bridges of loop four crossing over loop three.

Since room is limited in Bob and Cindy Shiflett's layout room, club members were relayed over a few at a time. It must be nice to put a building on your layout and come back a week later and find the chipmunks haven't knocked it over!

Randy Blackstock's railroad consists of a folded loop representing a narrow gauge line surrounded by a loop with 20' diameter curves where he runs his standard gauge equipment including a nice consist of heavy-weight passenger cars.
