January 10, 2009 - Annual Business Meeting

This year the annual business meeting and party was held at the North Alpharetta Park Senior Center. The results of the Executive Board elections were announced. Lowell Dietz, Alan Mole, and Ted Yarbrough will join Dave Bennett, Donald Nute, and Frances Tidd on the 2009 Executive Board. Don will Chair the Board, and Alan will serve as Vice-Chair. Frances will continue as Treasurer and Membership Chair, Dave will continue as Exhibits Chair (club layout,) Ted will continue as Special Events Coordinator, and Don will continue as Webmaster. Alan will serve as Program Chair and Lowell will serve as Publications Editor.

The 2008 Financial Statement and the 2009 Budget were presented to the members by Frances Tidd. In 2008, the balance in the GGRS account decreased from $5,219.73 to $4,777.98 for a net decrease of $441.75. The 2009 Budget projects that the balance will increase by $325. The projected budget is based on the assumption that the GGRS will sell all 175 available tickets for the SEGRS banquet in May. The Board announced that the payment to hosts of regular club meetings will increase from $50 to $100. This figure has not changed in at least ten years. The members approved a recommendation of the Board to increase club dues to $25 beginning in 2010. Details of the Financial Report and the Budget will be included in the next newsletter.

Plans for the Southeast Garden Railroad Show to be held May 1-2, 2009, at the Dalton Trade Center were presented to the members. A new page on this website will be created to report news on the GGRS as plans progress.
